As a vacationer browsing the website, no personal information is collected until you either: 1) register as a vacationer 2) contact a vacation rental owner 3) email a friend about a specific vacation rental via the website 4) create a vacation rental review 5) reserve, or book, a vacation rental via this website.
1) By registering as a vacationer we collect a user name, password, security answer and email address. Your password is encrypted and unknown to anyone except you. Should you forget your password, you can still access your account by answering your security question correctly.
2) By contacting an owner, to make a vacation rental inquiry via the website, you are only required to provide your name and email address. Optional information may be collected to allow you to better assist the owner with your inquiry. We collect this information to facilitate easy communication between you and the owner. This information is sent via email to the intended vacation rental owner and stored in our database for the owner's own reference. It is not used for any other purpose. The owner's privacy is very important to us and we do not share their email address. Vacationers fill out a form and the website contacts the owner via email. Vacationers should not share personal information they do not want the vacation rental owner to see. Vacationers are not allowed to spam or send messages that do not pertain to renting, or inquiring about renting, the owner's vacation rental. Should an owner report a message as spam, future messages by the same vacationer will be banned.
3) The same guidelines as contacting an owner apply to emailing a friend about a specific vacation rental. Your email, your friend's email and your message are stored in our database. Your email is sent only to the intended person.
4) When you create a vacation rental review, we help you protect your personal information by allowing you to add a fictitious nickname. No personal information is collected that can be used to identify you by anyone other than the vacation rental owner.
5) By reserving a vacation rental property via this website, the same rules that apply for 1), 2) and 3) also apply to this action. On certain vacation rental listing pages, you have the option of making an online reservation. Online reservations are sent directly to the property manager. If you choose to make an online reservation, your personal information, including your name, email address, credit card and any other information you supply on the reservation form, will be securely transferred to the manager whose property you wish to reserve. The property manager will reply directly to you when confirming your reservation. Do not share information in the online reservation form that you do not want property managers to see. Be aware that each property manager will have their own privacy policy and those policies may differ from Surf to Ski Retreats.
